Optum’s last day for providing insurance services to HELFO’s eligible students, posted workers and pensioners is September 11, 2022.  If you require assistance for a service provided prior to September 12, 2022, Optum will continue assisting HELFO’s members through December 31, 2022.

HELFO Member Services

Optum is the U.S. administrator chosen by the National Office for Social Insurance Abroad, HELFO, to handle insurance matters for its members. We are here to assist with any issue relating to your healthcare experience including:

  • Finding a healthcare provider within your network
  • Contacting providers to attempt to get them to bill Optum
  • Answering questions about billing statements, what is covered and what you owe
  • Completing insurance waiver forms

Optum pays your medical bills, or reimburses you for medical expenses paid, within the guidelines of the Norwegian Insurance Scheme.

HELFO:

  • Provides guidelines as to how and what to pay
  • Is advised each week of each bill that is to be paid
  • Confirms calculations made on amounts to be paid
  • Makes all decisions on appeals
